Sterile water containing a bacteriostatic preservative. The preservative inhibits the growth of bacteria in the vial, which is what allows a single vial to be entered more than once.

Sterile water contains no preservative. Bacteriostatic water contains a bacteriostatic preservative, and that is the whole difference: it is what makes this a multi-dose vial rather than a single-use one.

It inhibits bacterial growth inside the vial after it has been entered, which is what allows the same vial to be used more than once.

No. The preservative inhibits the growth of bacteria inside the vial; it does not sterilise the contents, and it does not make a contaminated vial safe to use. It is a preservative, not a steriliser.

A sterile diluent and solvent, used to reconstitute or dilute substances for laboratory and research purposes. It is a diluent, not a product with any activity of its own.

Each vial holds 10ml and is sealed. How many times it can be drawn from depends entirely on the volume taken each time — a 10ml vial gives ten 1ml draws, or five 2ml draws.

Store the sealed vial as stated on its label. Once it has been entered, the limit is 28 days from first puncture.

Yes. Bac water, bacteriostatic mixing water and mixing water are all names for the same thing: sterile water with a bacteriostatic preservative.

Clear, colourless liquid, free of visible particles. If a vial is cloudy, discoloured or contains particles it should not be used, whatever the date.

Water is CAS 7732-18-5. It is listed in the technical data on the product page and in the safety data sheet.

No. Not classified as hazardous under the GB CLP Regulation. The preservative is present below the concentration limits at which the mixture would inherit any classification.

No. It is sold as a laboratory reagent. It is not a medicine and not a medical device. The product disclaimer sets this out in full.

Store it as printed on the label: 2–8°C. Keep it upright, sealed and out of direct light.

28 days from first puncture. That is the conventional in-use limit for a multi-dose vial, and it applies whether or not the vial is refrigerated. Write the date of first puncture on the vial.

Yes. Each vial carries a printed expiry date, and that date governs an unopened vial. The 28-day in-use limit only starts once the stopper is first punctured.

Follow the label, which states 2–8°C. Refrigeration does not extend the in-use limit once the vial is opened.

It is not recommended. Freezing expands the contents against the glass and the stopper seal, and the diluent gains nothing from it. Discard a vial that has been frozen.

Discard it if it is cloudy, discoloured or contains particles, if the vial is cracked or the seal is loose, if it is past the printed expiry, or if more than 28 days have passed since the stopper was first punctured.

Where it is switched on, a cryptocurrency option is shown at checkout alongside card payment. Cryptocurrency payments cannot be reversed, so refunds for those orders are returned to a wallet address you confirm in writing.

Yes. A confirmation email with the itemised total is sent as soon as payment is received, and a second email when the order is dispatched.

Contact us as soon as possible. If the order has not been dispatched we can usually change or cancel it. Once dispatched, the returns policy applies.

The price shown is the price you pay. Any VAT treatment is stated on the product page before you reach checkout.

No. BacLab sells one product: bacteriostatic water in a 10ml vial. We do not stock peptides, research compounds, syringes or other laboratory consumables.

UK delivery is free on orders of £30 or more. Below that it is £2, shown before you pay.

Each vial is sealed with a rubber stopper under a crimped aluminium collar and a flip-off cap, and packed to protect the glass in transit.

Contact us and we will investigate with the carrier. Goods lost in transit remain at our risk, and we will resend or refund at your choice.

Yes. The packs on the product page run from a single vial to 100 vials, and the per-vial price falls with pack size, down to £2.75 at 100 vials.

You can add up to 10 of any pack to one order. For anything larger, or for a regular supply, get in touch and we will quote.

Not as a separate account type at present. Larger or repeat orders are handled individually.

If you are a consumer you have 14 days from delivery to cancel without giving a reason, provided the vials are unopened with their seals intact. A vial that has been opened or punctured cannot be returned, because it is sealed for hygiene reasons and we cannot verify its sterility once it has left our control.

You pay the cost of returning unwanted goods. We recommend a tracked service and keeping proof of postage.

Tell us within 14 days of delivery with your order number and photographs of the item and its packaging. We replace or refund damaged, faulty or incorrect items and will not ask you to post back a broken vial.

Refunds are issued within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of your cancellation where goods have not been sent. Card refunds go through Stripe and usually show on a statement within 5 to 10 working days.
